Yep, as the wonderful Scrabble tiles declare above, today – and on all Tuesday’s henceforth, we will be taking 10 minutes out of our afternoon to enjoy Tea-Break Tuesday and we would love you to join us!
It is very simple really, we want to share with you all the fun and interesting things that we love – from a great book to read, a cracking exhibition to go to or a delicious recipe we have stumbled upon and you can let us know your thoughts and recommendations too.
Today we are recommending a wonderful film we have recently seen – Life of Pi. It is the movie version of the enchanting book by Yann Martel, which explores themes of storytelling, fantasy versus reality and religious philosophy. There is always the worry of seeing a film after you have read the book that it is based on that it will not live up to your expectations and do the book justice (yes, I mean you Memoirs of a Geisha – brilliant book, not-so-brilliant film) but under the direction of Ang Lee, this film does the book more than excels.
Lead character Pi Patel’s family own a zoo in India but times turn hard and they decide to emigrate to Canada – taking all the animals on a boat across the sea with them. The boat sinks and Pi finds himself on a lifeboat with a Hyena, a Zebra, an Orangutan and a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. What follows is an amazing 3D experience that completely encapsulates you and leaves you feeling joyful when it’s all over. Perfect viewing!
