If you haven’t checked out the overly-generous Yumi sale yet, then follow my tip-off on the pieces to snap up quick! First on my sale-pick wish list is the Uttam Boutique Bird Print Tunic Dress. This embellished shift is exactly the kind of chic staple that resides in Miranda Kerr’s summer wardrobe. Add nude sandals with dainty straps and an essentials-carrying minaudiere for evening, or toughen up with gladiator sandals and accessorize with funky butterfly framed sunnies by day. Extra style points can be achieved by wearing a daring hue on the eyes- try a punchy coral or rose-tinted pigment (see the sunshine shades at Peter Som S/S’13) or lift the powder blue of the dress with an aquamarine slick of eyeliner.
Next up is Yumi’s Embroidered Daisy Shift (because a girl can never have too many dresses!) Daisies transformed themselves from the traditional lawn flower to the ‘it’ flower this season, stealing the stage in Andy Warhol-esque monochrome and vibrant, wilder forms at Prada and Valentino. As well as performing in the trend stakes for the rest of summer, this shift will deliver come A/W, when peter pan collars are eternally coveted. At the turn of the weather, swap pumps for tights and Chelsea boots and throw a cute knit over the top- let the collar peek out of course, and there you have it; the Emma Watson effect. Go for the pink version to maximise your know-all-the-trends persona, as the pretty glow of rose bouquets clearly inspired the AW’13 catwalks. Womanly allure was stressed through every tone of pink you could imagine at the likes of Giles, Mulberry and Paul and Joe.
Lastly, Yumi’s Tie-Waisted Trench Coat has been screaming at me to buy it and store it away for September- and I don’t need much persuading after seeing Gabriella Wilde look so effortlessly chic in her navy overcoat. Burberry has defined the trench as a wardrobe piece that will never, ever date, and it is truly the best compliment to a pair of jeans I’ve ever seen! For Gabriella’s sophisticated yet contemporary daytime look, channel a white shirt underneath and pair with bright courts and finger jewellery, or try combining an autumnal hued jersey maxi dress, a lightweight paisley scarf and a fedora for ultimate Parisian-stylista.
