5 Steps To Self-Care

The end of a year often calls for New Year’s Resolutions; a time to reflect on the last 12 months while embracing the fresh start of the 1st January. Here at Yumi, while we love the idea behind resolutions, we think it’s also important to see a new year as a chance to take better care of ourselves. See 2019 as an opportunity to improve on self-care, check out our top 5 tips:

 

No Pressure

While it’s great to have goals and be ambitious, remember that sometimes things take time or don’t go as planned. Take the pressure off and give yourself time, there’s no need to rush and often, things will go a lot smoother if you relax a little.

 

Treat Yourself

It’s ok to treat yourself every now and then. You work hard for your money, so you deserve to spend a little on yourself. Whether it’s a new dress or winter coat, splashing out on those wardrobe staples will be the little gifts that keep on giving.

 

Rest

Know when to take a break. Our lives can be so busy, we often don’t get the time to even think about resting! Run a bath, put on a face mask and read a book. It’s often the little things in life and the moments of quiet that can make all the difference.

 

Sleep Well

Adjusting your sleeping pattern can really improve your daily life. We recommend going to be bed earlier, shutting off all devices and attempting to get your full 8 hours, at least. It might be difficult to settle into this routine at first, but your body will begin to adjust and you’ll start to feel a lot better for it.

 

Dress Up

Do you get home from work and jump straight into your pyjamas? Yeah, us too, but sometimes it’s a good idea to get dressed up, not for anyone else, but just to feel good about ourselves. You might then feel inspired to head out for drinks with the girls or for an impromptu date night; either way, sometimes it’s good to get out of those pyjamas!
