Parting with your winter wardrobe usually feels like a blissful celebration. However, given our celebrations are more low-key than ever this year (and confined by a limited guest list), you’d be forgiven for feeling a little underwhelmed by the arrival of June. Not to mention the hesitant risk you take when buying an outfit that may never see past the front door, let alone a suitcase.
But since we’re happily breaking up with the joggers-and-t-shirt motif we sordidly overused in stricter times, there’s an empty space in our wardrobe for more season-appropriate items. With plenty of new palettes and patterns you may have missed during the sluggish first stretch of the year, take this as an opportunity to make up for lost time. (You don’t have to ask us twice).
We know this won’t beat the exciting pre-summer rush or come close to the compliment-filled parade of your new party dress, but there’s always a socially distanced trip to the park on the cards.

Finding the one
Finding the perfect summer dress can be a tricky task. Like with most things you wear, it must be versatile, yet suitably reflect the season. With breathable fabric that’s more than welcome on stickier days, this Mela dress is detailed with a pretty floral print and a dropped neckline, which awards it a sought-after place in our day and night wardrobe – all the more reason to invest.
As the famous proverb goes, you are what you wear (we think that’s the phrase?), so feeling a bit more ‘put-together’ is a common side effect of this maxi dress. It’s frilly, light, and comfortable enough to lounge in, if you’re not ready to give up lounging on the sofa just yet.
Skipping the transition period to summer can often leave you feeling a little out of touch with normal life. Kick-start the change by swapping out your jeans for this midi dress. Soft, spotty, and sun-worthy, pair it with sandals or trainers for your weekly trip to the supermarket.
For this year, and next…
Zoom calls are one of the only ways to show off your latest purchases, so make sure this summer dress features on your next quiz night. With sheer fabric that floats above the ankle and a ditsy print, there’s no reason you can’t wear it all year round. Or if you can’t wait for life after lockdown, team with slippers.
Ditching the dull hues is the best way to start your June journey. And this season, it’s the turn of green to set your outfit alight. Designed with popping pink florals, it’s a great way to inject some colour (and much needed positivity) to your day-to-day style.
