It’s in the detail
oIt’s no secret that here at Yumi HQ, we love all things printed, embellished and detailed. Seen on the SS17 catwalks and showing no signs of slowing down, detailed dresses are a key trend this season. Whether you’re looking to make an entrance with head-to-toe embroidery or want to keep it classic and feminine by opting for ruffles, we’ve created an easy to follow guide showing you how to incorporate these fashion favorites into your wardrobe.
To make your life simple and easy, we’ve put together some of our favourite pieces and how to style them. So without further ado…
In stitches for embroidery
Firstly, in case you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that embroidery has made a massive impact in the fashion world. Seen everywhere and on everyone, it’s the trend we can’t get enough of. Easy to dress up or down, this intricate detail can elevate an outfit and update your wardrobe ready for the new season.
We’re obsessing over this navy embroidered dress. Falling above the knee, the sleeveless skater dress has delicately stitched poppies all over. Finished with a detachable waist belt in order to create a flattering shape with a zip fastening down the back- it’s the perfect piece to welcome you into the world of detail.

Ruffles made for frill seekers
Secondly, beautifully chic and feminine; ruffles and frills are no longer exclusively reserved for the contestants of Toddler and Tiaras. Loved by fashion houses such as Gucci, Miu Miu and Vivienne Westwood, they therefore help to create movement and drama whilst being ever so soft and romantic.
This sleeveless pale blue dress is a winning choice for formal events and romantic occasions. Falling above the knee, the elegant lace design is adorned with frill detailing along the neckline. Who knew making a statement could look this good? Wear it with silver heels, thus creating a look worth a thousand words.
Lace V neck Ruffle Dress
All about lace
Furthermore, keeping in tune with the previous detail, lace is a Spring/Summer essential. Once only associated with brides and designed with weird sheer panels that caused all kinds of underwear stress, lace has grown up and as a result, is a favourite.
If dresses aren’t your thing, why not try a jumpsuit as a great alternative? This navy one is perfect for special events whilst remaining sophisticated and effortless. The sleeveless design features floral lace paneling across the chest and down the back, ruching towards the center, a tie waist belt and straight legs. As a result, this one piece looks great worn with heels.
Lace Sweetheart Jumpsuit
Embellishments that sparkle
Whoever thought sparkle were reserved for New Years Eve clearly never got the memo about embellishments. Whilst lovers of minimalism may take some convincing, this trend will easily add to your seasonal wardrobe.
Last but not least, this fruity cardigan is the perfect mix for fashion and function. The pure cotton design features jeweled pineapples down the center with a textured finish. A great piece to layer over shirts, dresses and jumpsuits; it will therefore fast become an outfit staple.
