Sail Away with Nautical Stripes

Our nautical themed Spring/Summer 2013 edit is the perfect companion to those forthcoming boat balls, beach BBQ’s and poolside parties; a classic, preppy piece of sailor-chic. Nauticality reemerges each sunny season as an essential staple of any fashionista’s wardrobe.

Tommy Hilfiger (above right) took us on a nautical journey along New York’s Hudson River for his venturesome S/S ‘13 offering. Americana reds, blues and whites made up his explorer-themed colour palette, with buttoned-up sailor dresses and regatta-striped, pyjama style suits strolling down the catwalk. Hilfiger was just one of numerous designers to walk the line, with Dolce and Gabbana (above left) embracing the Breton stripe in their ‘Sea, Sun, Love’ collection. Ruler-lined dresses complimented by true jet-setter accessories of bandana headscarves and raffia sandals infused a holiday-postcard vibe into the Sicilian duo’s escape of a show.

There is no doubt that nautical accents are an necessity, so take a cue from style-maven actress Olivia Palermo (above) and her Tibi striped blazer (complete with ship wheel-look, ornate gold buttons) and channel some sailor-girl spirit!

Our boat printed pieces embrace the pattern-heavy aesthetic of the season, while our 1950’s sun dress mirrors the curve-enhancing, retro silhouettes of Dolce and Gabbana’s designs. With any of our effortlessly stylish, nautical-inspired pieces, you wouldn’t look out of place on the French Riviera!
