Yumi style edit: What to wear from May 17th

17th May! It’s the day we’ve all been waiting for. Pubs and restaurants have already reopened, but as most of us have experienced over the last few weeks, the typically British weather doesn’t always play ball. Hands up if you’ve been shivering in a coat on a terrace – or if you have decided to give the whole, often sodden affair a wide birth. We have full respect for both camps.

On May 17th, other remnants of pre-Covid life are set to properly return: finally we will be back inside of pubs, cinemas and theatres, with hotels and holiday accommodation reopening too. And the idea of a proper celebration, without social distancing or any other type of restriction, looms tantalisingly close. The next date for your diaries, and namesake of Mike Skinner’s newest hit? 21st June.

So, we’re doing what we do best here at Yumi: putting together our favourite pieces from a line of new arrivals which just scream celebrations in the sun. If we keep mentioning the sun, it simply has to make an appearance… right?

Close your eyes and imagine the scene: ice cold cocktail in hand, tunes playing, dancing with friends in a cute fit, perfectly complimented by a mini straw clutch and barely there heels…. Zibi’s London Billie Slip Dress is *that dress*: sleek, silky, sexy and sky blue. The ultimate party wear.

If pretty in pink is your thing, look no further than this bold, sassy satin jumpsuit by Sofia. Pair with chunky heels, statement jewellery, and these pink sunnies by Ruby Rock. The perfect one-piece for dancing through to dawn.

Arrive in style in AX Paris: this Navy Heart Printed playsuit is a super cute all-in-one. Perfect for pairing with heels – or with chunky white trainers for when sore feet strike. With most of us having worn nothing but slippers or sliders for over a year now, we’re thinking this might well be the smartest choice…

For those of us who love to *really* make an entrance, this cool mint maxi dress by Urban Touch is truly a knock-em-dead choice. We love the flattering belt and Hollywood thigh split. Book somewhere boujie and celebrate in style – because why not.

For all our gorgeous curvy ladies, this plus size ditsy floral midi – part of the Mela Curve range – leads the pack. We’re picturing an abundance of bottles on ice, reuniting with loved ones, and weather as sunny as this midi. Fingers crossed.

Maybe on June 21st we will find that pot of gold? Either way, we absolutely love this rainbow striped bardot maxi dress from our Yumi Curve collection. Super flattering and summery, choose a core colour and get coordinating. As lightweight as it is comfortable, this piece is perfect for socialising into the early hours.

Calling all our ladies in red… Whether it’s 21st June or any other date, an outfit roundup for going ‘out out’ simply would not be complete without at least one *jeans and a nice top* combo. There’s always going to be one of the girl gang strutting this fit, and we simply have to salute that. This plus size zip detail blouse by Mela is an excellent choice for those starting early: flattering and easy to wear, we suggest pairing with gold jewellery, black jeans and strappy heels.

It wouldn’t be a Yumi Style Edit if we didn’t include at least one animal print piece, right? Ultra flattering with oversized shirt sleeves and a cinched waist, this gorgeous jumpsuit is the perfect choice for partying into the early morn’ with your nearest and dearest. We love it matched with white trainers or with chunky wedges – just make sure to add the obligatory statement hoop earrings.
