    The Out-There Knit

It looks like Jil Sander’s bizarre but oh-so-desirable Picasso-themed sweater of SS12 has caught on, as more and more fashionistas are embracing the kooky sweater. A cool and quirky knit is a must-have for your wardrobe and I’m thinking, the wackier the better! Model Cara Delevingne (above left) is not one for following a trend half-heartedly, pictured showing off her Jeremy Scott Bart Simpson-ified sweater. She even has the matching skirt! Alexa Chung (above right), queen of the quirks, snapped up one of the J.W Anderson bat motif knits for Topshop. From Paul and Joe’s AW12 tropical-tiger print (below left), to Topshop Unique’s sell-out, cross-embellished sweater (below right), modeled here…

    The Statement Trouser

I am having a full-blown love affair with statement trousers. And by statement, I mean prints galore. From slim cigarette pants to slouchy styles, patterned trousers rocked the AW12 runways. While Miu Miu (above left) opted for kooky trouser suits reminiscent of funky 70’s wallpaper, Prada (above right) had us solving optical illusions with geometrical trews. If channeling Miucci Prada-esque print on print seems scary to you, then team your patterned pants with clean basics. London Fashion Week saw Poppy Delevingne (below right) showcase her trending trews with simple, chic pieces. Tailoring looks fab too with the trouser – Sienna Miller (below left) took her silk pants from day to night by adding a crisp white…

    Rodarte’s Luxe Lattes For Starbucks

Rodarte’s latest collaboration is simply genius: sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy have designed a range of funky goods for hot drinks purveyor extraordinaire, Starbucks. This week sees the release of the limited-edition range that consists of a coffee mug, a re-useable cup sleeve, gift cards and a tote bag – all with a stylish grey, white and silver pixelated print. Although the collaboration will be launched in time for Christmas, the Mulleavy’s have stuck with their differentiated outlook on fashion; so not a reindeer in sight! It’s a new but intriguing direction for Rodarte, and I’m sure their digitalized designs will attract new purchasers, as well as the avid Rodarte…

We Love V Magazine’s New Cover!

This cover for the new issue of V magazine works on so many levels, which is why we love it! Firstly, it’s so unique. It is not often you see an actress in the shower as the front cover of a mag. Scarlett Johansson is brilliantly paying homage to one of the most famous scenes in movie history; the shower scene from Psycho. The reason? She is starring in the new film Hitchcock, playing Janet Leigh, the actress who was in the original shower scene. She is acting alongside Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren and the film is a biography of Hollywood director Alfred Hitchcock focusing on the time in…

    Trend Alert: Sixties Chic Collars

Collars are still having their moment of glory, and we adore them here at Yumi! Featuring on elegant swing coats and dainty-chic blouses at Chloe (above left), and decorating snug sweater dresses at Rodarte (above right), Peter Pan collars are one of the cutest details of the season. Named after the collar on the costume worn by actress Maude Adams in the 1905 Broadway ‘Peter Pan’, the collar naturally adds a charming, vintage feel to any outfit. Brigitte Bardot (below left) famously turned the prim and proper buttoned up look into a sophisticated and sexy look. Our ultimate inspiration for channeling the collar is Alexa Chung (above right), whose wardrobe…

Scarves: The Accessory That Goes With Everything

One of the easiest ways to add an eye-catching edge to your wardrobe is with a chic scarf. As well as layering you up to face the cold weather, scarves add a quick pop of colour to any ensemble and can be thrown on effortlessly to make a style statement. Channel the triangle neck-scarf look like Ashley Greene (above) with our very own tassel scarf ; perfect for creating that laid back vibe. Ashley’s teamed her paisley printed scarf with the best accessory- a gorgeous old-fashioned bike! Blake Lively (above) knows that looking hot in winter has to merge with keeping cosy, and her turquoise woollen scarf ticks both of…
