Best Dressed: Glamour Women Of The Year Awards
Glamour Magazine hosted its annual Women Of The Year Awards last night (Tuesday 4th June) to celebrate the most inspirational ladies of 2013. As ever, Yumi had one eye on the red carpet to round up our best dressed on the night.
Hitting our top spots were Cara Delevingne who wore a racy ‘Squeeze This’ T-shirt on the red carpet, and Chloe Designer Claire Waight Keller who wore sophisticated black and white. Also rocking the trend for Monochrome was actress Hayden Panettiere. The ‘Nashville’ starlet wore a Helmut Lang blazer buttoned over a more flirty, horizontally striped frock. TV presenter Emma Willis also looked sophisticated in a white shift dress.
One of the hottest trends of the night – the jumpsuit – was worn by Juno Temple, Gemma Cairney , Victoria Beckham and Laura Haddock. We love how you can dress a jumpsuit up or down and we’re now craving our own versions here at Yumi HQ!
Another eye-catching trend on the night was for Barbie pink frocks. Myleene Class’s Rachel Gilbert hot pink strapless frock was styled with Stephen Webster jewels, whilst Les Mis star Samantha Barks wore a neon pink Roland Mouret dress with metallic Giuseppe Zanotti peep-toes. Other popular colours were peach – as seen on Kylie Minogue’s halterneck confection with tiers of chiffon from Moschino – and sky-blue, found on the Jonathan Saunders shift dress Fearne Cotton chose to don.
Meanwhile Girls star Zosia Mamet looked chic wearing an embroidered Preen dress, and Rashida Jones, who took home the Filmmaker prize wore a PJ inspired two piece from Erdem’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection.
Two stars who failed to Wow us with their style were Amanda Holden, who arrived in a glitzy silver strapless gown and Rita Ora who wore a dove grey gown from Marchesa. Both looked glamorous – but a tad over-dressed for the occasion!
Those that failed to impress us with busy prints included Irish TV presenter Laura Whitmore, who teamed her Carven collage-newsprint dress with a Sophia Webster ‘Speech’ Bubble clutch and bauble-accented heels by the same designer. Likewise, Singer Ellie Goulding’s busy printed and lace dress was designed by Roberto Cavalli and looked far too wintery for a the event. Meanwhile Jessie J’s head-turning cobalt blue Gucci outfit, looked a tad over-whelming, if not too long in the leg. Though we did have a moment of accessory lust over her perspex clutch.
