Izzy Stocks Blogs On Sweet Shop Shades

We all swooned over the delectable, baby blue Matthew Williamson frock that Sienna Miller wore to this year’s BAFTA awards. And the fact that the pastel delight came from Williamson’s A/W ’13 collection is pure evidence that candy hues are sticking around (see what I did there?!)

S/S’13 boasted spearmint greens in the form of Mulberry’s soft separates whilst sherbet yellows, lavenders and toned down corals were all palatably mixed at Erdem, proving A/W will favor the ultimate womanly hue. Simone Rocha’s fitted peter pan coats were reminiscent of a tasty winter sorbet, while Celine’s blush coloured beauties looked almost fizzy.

It seems Sienna is not the only A-lister indulging in a sugar high. Ice cream skinny jeans are a wardrobe staple by day for Jessica Alba, while Rose Byrne nailed luxurious femininity by night in a nude Emilio Pucci mini dress at ‘The Internship’ premiere. If you’re worried about looking more sickly than sweet, opt for one pastel piece like Mollie King, who teamed her salmon pink Reiss blazer with a modish graphic print dress. Kate Bosworth is my favourite pastel-parader, tucking a neutral embellished vest into her lemon maxi skirt for effortless glamour and girlishness.

Louis Vuitton’s famous metallic accented S/S’12 show remains influential, with silver being the ideal accessory hue to compliment sugary shades. Experiment with on-trend Perspex too for an edge, and if you fancy a unique twist on the sweetie craze, try out a two-tone pastel blazer. Carry sweet shop shades through to fall by toughening them up with a leather jacket or studded jewellery, and move your confectionary coloured jeans and jumpers to the front of your closet!
