Valentino: Master of Couture Exhibition

Valentino’s Pier Paolo Piccoli and Maria Grazia Chiuri never fail to produce flawless designs. We adored this season’s fairytale frocks contrasted with the edgy twist of leather capes and skirts (pictured below).  As if this gorgeous AW12 collection wasn’t enough to swoon over, Valentino fans will be treated to a mesmerizing exhibition as of November 29th. Featuring over 130 haute couture designs worn by the likes of Sophia Loren, Grace Kelly and Julia Roberts, the exhibit takes place at Somerset House in the venue’s most striking form of staging yet.

Visitors will get to play model for a day, sashaying (optional!) down a sixty meter catwalk to view the gowns commemorating Valentino Garavani’s astounding career. Dresses will be arranged in themed groups, with Valentino’s hallmark crimson creations naturally having their own section.

The retrospective will include photographic archives of Valentino himself and a screening of films providing that exclusive backstage pass to the iconic Valentino atelier. There will be a huge emphasis on crafting couture and the chance to view the beautifully hand-sewn wedding dress of Princess Marie Chantal of Greece.

We can’t imagine anything better than spending a dreamy day surrounded by fanciful fabrics, intricate appliqués and Valentino’s traditional palette of black, nude, scarlet and ivory!
