Yumi x The University of Westminster

This season we’re heading back to university… The University of Westminster that is.

No, we’re not going to find ourselves or take up a Law degree, we’ll save that for our weekend binge of Suits. Instead we invited the Digital Fashion Marketing students at The University of Westminster to put their degree into practice. Forming mini agencies, the second year students worked over several weeks to come up with ideas for a social media campaign.

We kicked off this project with our Marketing Manager giving a guest lecture at the university’s Harrow Campus. Armed with a better understanding of our quirky ways, love for florals and online presence, the students started work.

Once they’d had a chance to brainstorm, we invited the students back to Yumi HQ, where they saw the entire SS18 collection and got full access to our showroom. Not only did they get to try on the garments, but they used props and took photos to accompany their campaign ideas. The students were so creative and had some amazing ideas, it was really inspiring to see them love the clothes as much as we do.

A few weeks after, our Creative Coordinator and Marketing Manager went back to the University to see the groups pitch their campaign ideas.

We were so overwhelmed by the number of great ideas, we offered an internship to one of the students. We can’t wait to welcome her onto the team this month!

We really enjoyed working with the university and hope that it was a valuable experience for the students.

Love Yumi x
