It’s Pure Time!
So last Sunday it was time again for the UK’s biggest trade show to begin over at the Olympia National Hall. Over at Yumi HQ we’d been planning for some time and created a retro themed and styled showcase for our wholesale customers. Showcasing our SS13 product range, we also had two lovely ladies from Sapphires Models, Amanda and Yvette, to look pretty in our dresses! Pure is always an interesting show, as the consumer fashion world heads into AW12, we’re thinking a whole season ahead to next summer, its a bit of a bizarre concept but one that we enjoy! Michael Phelps – Olympic Legend and Louis Vuitton Model
It seems that being the greatest Olympian of all time (he has 22 medals, 19 of them gold!) – isn’t enough for American swimmer Michael Phelps, as he now embarked on a stint as a fashion model! In a canny move from Louis Vuitton, he is the face of the Autumn/Winter 2012 menswear campaign, which was shot by Annie Leibovitz. We love this campaign as it is very on topic, people have so much love for the Olympics right now after the massive postitive success of London 2012. The Best of British Fashion Rocked the Olympics!
We were so pleased that this was one of the rumours that turned out to be true – the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 games featured a section paying tribute to great British fashion. The gold (of course, what else?) creations were worn by the cream of the British modelling world. So great to see our industry celebrated on such a large global stage! Walking out to the super-appropriate ‘Fashion’ by David Bowie, all the models looked stunning – left to right in the below pic – Lily Cole was in Erdem, Stella Tennant wore Christopher Kane, flame haired Karen Elson dazzled in Burberry, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell were wearing Alexander McQueen, Lily Donaldson…

If you go down to the woods today……you’ll find inspiration for one of our quirkiest trends this season! There is something for everyone this Autumn/Winter – our whimsical creatures trend is a winning formula for the Yumi lady who is young at heart, with cutesy wildlife prints of foxes, lions and owls. Whichever animal takes your fancy, our prints come on dresses, blouses and knitwear, so can be incorporated into all aspects of your wardrobe! We went to the Olympics!
We managed to blag some tickets this weekend so off we headed to the Olympic Park early on Saturday morning with excitement! We were greeted by many many Olympic staff, all poised high on lifeguard styles chairs shouting through their loudspeakers about the sun, Team GB and pretty much anything to keep spirits high. The Park itself is pretty special, kind of like being at a festival but also being in a theme park. We loved the Meadham Kirchoff inspired coloured floor and the pink theme that runs pretty much all the way through the park – bit like our Yumi pink we think! This is our interpretation of the androgynous trend, in keeping with the masculinity of this look, we have created a capsule collection including in-house designed prints featuring glasses, bow-ties and moustaches.
