Holiday packing like a pro with Charlotte Adsett
Charlotte Adsett, the fashion stylist who worked on the Yumi A/W 13 shoot with singer Nina Nesbitt, gives her tips for holiday packing like a pro: I pack huge suitcases full of clothes and shoes on almost a daily basis for fashion shoots in London and tropical climes, but when it comes to holidays, travelling light is the way to go. 1. Lay everything you want to take out on your bed so you are able to see exactly what you have so you can easily edit it down to ideally half – you only want to take hard working pieces that with go with other items to create…

Tea Break Tuesday: Happy Birthday Olsen Twins!
Happy Birthday to the world’s most famous twins! Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen turn 27 this week (Thursday 13th June) and to celebrate we’ve taken a trip back in time to look at the sister’s best dressed fashion moments. Since the start of their career’s at just 6 months old, Mary Kate and Ashley had a penchant for dressing in identical outfits, developing their own sense of personal style later in life – but still dressing alike. Case in point; both sisters love to wear over-sized round sunglasses, bling rings and carry over-sized tote bags, whilst wearing plenty of black and having a fondness for fur. Whether on the front…

Best Dressed: Glamour Women Of The Year Awards
Glamour Magazine hosted its annual Women Of The Year Awards last night (Tuesday 4th June) to celebrate the most inspirational ladies of 2013. As ever, Yumi had one eye on the red carpet to round up our best dressed on the night. Hitting our top spots were Cara Delevingne who wore a racy ‘Squeeze This’ T-shirt on the red carpet, and Chloe Designer Claire Waight Keller who wore sophisticated black and white. Also rocking the trend for Monochrome was actress Hayden Panettiere. The ‘Nashville’ starlet wore a Helmut Lang blazer buttoned over a more flirty, horizontally striped frock. TV presenter Emma Willis also looked sophisticated in a white shift dress.…

Tea Break Tuesday: CFDA Awards Best & Worst Dressed
The annual CFDA (The Council of Fashion Designers of America) Awards are always a highlight in our fashion calendar here at Yumi. On today’s Tea Break Tuesday blog post we take a look at the styles that excited and those which disappointed in this year’s round up of the best and worst dressed. The award for best dressed here at Yumi HQ goes to model Miranda Kerr, who delighted in a dress from CFDA’s Womenswear Designer of the Year winners, Proenza Schouler. Also on top form were stylish sisters Kate and Rooney Mara, who both wore head-to-toe black, Rooney in a dress by Calvin Klein Collection and Kate Mara in…

Tea Break Tuesday: Billboard Awards Best & Worst Dressed
Never mind who took home the most gongs from the Billboard Music Awards last week, at Yumi HQ we are more interested in who wore what – and who wins the award for best (and worst) dressed celeb. In our best dressed camp falls Yumi favourite Taylor Swift in a sparkly blue Zuhar Murad mini dress, alongside fellow singer Miley Cyrus who took a risk in a monochrome Balmain jumpsuit (see below) which divided opinion – but we loved! Also proving their style credentials were actresses Chloe Moretz, who wore a Fendi dress, and Jeniffer Morrison who wore a revealing black gown from Kristian Aadnevik’s A/W ’13 collection. Our other…

Wendy Rigg On How To Wear White
Wendy Rigg Associate Editor at Reveal magazine shares with us her tips on how to wear the notoriously-difficult-to-get-right white trend this summer. Using our structured 1950’s cotton skirt, £40, as a base Wendy shows us her summer outfit wish-list, ticking off the top trends of the season and classic everyday looks as she goes. “For a relaxed chic look team the skirt with Yumi’s stripe vest top, cat eye sunnies, wedges and an over-sized tote bag.” “Another way to wear the skirt would be to pretty it up with Yumi’s lace from t-shirt, Oriental shopper bag, and some flatforms.” “Black and white always works – so make a Sixties statement…

Izzy Stocks Blogs On The Tropicana Trend
“The Spring/Summer 2013 prints are inspired by the Garden of Eden, Noah’s Ark, vibrant underwater corals, passion and seduction,” Daniella Helayel says of London label Issa. Nothing says summer more than a vivid print, as Issa displayed with their array of exotic plant, elephant and birds of paradise patterns. Helayel wasn’t alone in her nature-infused vision; Isabel Marant embraced the Hawaiian dress code in her summer collection, with foliage adorning rompers, Capri pants and sundresses. Her vibrant-orange tinted leaf-prints worked hand in hand with fifties shapes to reflect, in the Parisian designer’s own words, “a bit of Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot in St. Tropez”. Though Marant is the genius…
