Izzy Stocks Blogs On Sweet Shop Shades
We all swooned over the delectable, baby blue Matthew Williamson frock that Sienna Miller wore to this year’s BAFTA awards. And the fact that the pastel delight came from Williamson’s A/W ’13 collection is pure evidence that candy hues are sticking around (see what I did there?!) S/S’13 boasted spearmint greens in the form of Mulberry’s soft separates whilst sherbet yellows, lavenders and toned down corals were all palatably mixed at Erdem, proving A/W will favor the ultimate womanly hue. Simone Rocha’s fitted peter pan coats were reminiscent of a tasty winter sorbet, while Celine’s blush coloured beauties looked almost fizzy. It seems Sienna is not the only A-lister indulging…

Trend Alert: Blueprint
Blue and White is the most eye-catching colour combination for SS’13, leading to a host of delicate China blue and striking mosaic prints. On the catwalk, designer’s played with every shade of blue – from bright cobalt’s at Burberry, Versace, Etro and Felder Felder to lady-like cornflower shades at Chalayan and aquamarine at Zac Posen. But in the end it was the prints which really took our collective breaths away. Giorgio Armani, Gucci and Thakoon all chose to mix their blue’s with aqua’s and fresh whites, the later of which featured butterfly and floral motifs in directional shapes and a mix of sheer and high gloss fabrics. In London it…

Summer Trend Alert: Yellow
Spotted at Louis Vuitton, Vera Wang, Moschino, Gucci and Versus – Yellow was a color found frequently on the runway for Spring / Summer 2013. Here at Yumi we’re embracing summer’s brightest trend with an injection of full on sunshine shades to colour pops and pastels. Key pieces for those in the know include our Daisy embroidered and column printed shift dresses which effortlessly tap into the 60’s trend (also spotted Louis Vuitton and Moscino) whilst our belted jacquard dress has the same gold sheen as Vera Wang’s luxurious separates and Gucci’s glamorous embellished dresses – see above for further proof. Another of S/S ’13’s hottest shades – bright white…

Izzy Stocks Blogs On The Tropicana Trend
“The Spring/Summer 2013 prints are inspired by the Garden of Eden, Noah’s Ark, vibrant underwater corals, passion and seduction,” Daniella Helayel says of London label Issa. Nothing says summer more than a vivid print, as Issa displayed with their array of exotic plant, elephant and birds of paradise patterns. Helayel wasn’t alone in her nature-infused vision; Isabel Marant embraced the Hawaiian dress code in her summer collection, with foliage adorning rompers, Capri pants and sundresses. Her vibrant-orange tinted leaf-prints worked hand in hand with fifties shapes to reflect, in the Parisian designer’s own words, “a bit of Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot in St. Tropez”. Though Marant is the genius…

Trend Alert: Gatsby Glamour
The most anticipated film release of the year, The Great Gatsby is upon us and here at Yumi we couldn’t be more excited to dress up like Daisy (played in the latest adaptation by Carey Mulligan) in the latest flapper fashion! The Jazz Age has been an influence on the catwalks since summer 2012 and first fully materialized on Ralph Lauren’s runway, with the collection catering for both day in mannish pin-stripe suits and cloche hats, to evening, with the most glamorous of embellished gowns in silver, gold and soft pastel shades. Emporio Armani, Gucci, Alberta Ferretti and Etro quickly followed suit with drop waist sequined skirts and beading and…

Trend Alert: Orient Express
All aboard the Orient Express with Uttam Boutique! Our Asian-inspired range of wrap dress with origami-like folds, blossom and bird prints and kimono shapes are a perfect way to channel the trend for all things Oriental at the moment. One of the key trends of the season, the Oriental look first cropped up on the Spring / Summer 2013 catwalks, where traditional Eastern prints were given a Western spin by fashion houses Prada, Etro, Emilio Pucci and Kenzo, alongside the likes of Huishan Zhang, Roland Mouret, Lanvin and John Galliano. Vivid heron, lotus flower, cherry blossom and hibiscus motifs in prints which hailed from the East were splashed across opulent…
