How To Beat The January Blues

We get it. Christmas is over and the New Year celebrations are now just an embarrassing memory, and you’re struggling to make it through January after all the food and wine consumed in December still lurking around in the form of tight jeans and tired eyes. January is tough. Here at Yumi, we’ve decided to take a new approach when it comes to the first month by making it count.

Make yourself a priority

Last month we gave you 5 steps to better self-care, so this month it’s time to really take that onboard and make yourself a priority. A lot of people can feel overwhelmed over the festive period which is why January can seem so quiet. Instead of living in the past month, throw yourself into the present and treat yourself to some time to yourself. You’ll feel brighter and ready to take on the next 12 months.

Go outdoors

We know it might still be cold outside but as long as you wrap up in a cosy coat, there’s nothing stopping you embracing the outdoors. The crisp air and nature’s delights will have you feeling completely refreshed! There’s only so much time you can spend lounging on the sofa in your pyjamas… trust us, take a stroll to your local park and you’ll feel so much better.

Set a goal

Regardless of what your New Year’s resolutions might be, why not set yourself a goal that can be accomplished over the next few weeks. Perhaps it’s to finish reading a book, or to learn one song on guitar – whatever is it, setting an achievable goal will give you something to aim for and make you feel more accomplished at the end of the month! You can then reward yourself with a pretty new dress or some cute jewellery!

We know January can be tough after such a busy December, but make the most of it instead of wishing it was over and you’ll have even more memories to cherish.
