Moments With Mum

Mums, where would we be without them! They’re the first person to cheer us up…and the first person to share our most embarrassing story with everyone, thanks mum!

So with Mother’s Day just around the corner, we thought now would the perfect time to celebrate the leading ladies in our lives. We asked the staff here at Yumi HQ to share their fondest memory with their mum, and here’s what they had to say…

My mum and I spent many months together just the two of us as a kid when my dad was away with the army, sometimes 6-8 months at a time. A fond memory is watching my mum exercising to a Jane Fonda fitness VHS in the morning and talking to me whilst she did it.   – Lewis

My mum is the kindest, most loving person with the biggest heart you could possibly imagine! My favourite memory… well not so much memory but characteristic of my mum is that she giggles at EVERYTHING… you could say ‘hello’ and immediately she will burst into a fit of giggles.. even when nothing is funny! She may be the sweetest person I know, but if you try and cross my mother, she will tear you down with just a look! – Nina

My favourite memory with my Mum is a trip we took to Marrakesh, Morocco back in 2015. It was a fun girls time and we really got along with the locals who kept calling us Beyonce or Nicki Minaj (we loved that, especially the Beyonce part). My mum’s the strongest and most ambitious person I know. A tough lady with a big heart and she’s achieved a lot in her life while travelling the world! – Amma

I always remember my first day at school, running out of the classroom to my mum and shouting “mummy, mummy I’ve got homework!!!!!!” that was the first and last time I was ever excited about having homework to do! – Nicky

My favourite thing about my mum is her inability to hide / stop her laughter. We were at a funeral in India once, and she was sat directly across from the head priest, my uncle stood up to leave the room (which had really, really low ceilings) and he hit his head on a light fixture and smacked his head on the concrete ceiling, cursing really loudly. The room was very quiet apart from the gentle hum of the prayer from the priest and my mum’s hysterical laughing. I was only 8 / 9 at the time and started howling as well. I have unfortunately inherited this wonderful trait from my wonderful Mum – Neelam

My favourite thing about my mum is how caring she is and that she is always able to see the bright side in any situation. I love that she doesn’t take herself too seriously – Nailah

I have been fortunate to have celebrated 54 Mother’s Days with my amazing 87 year old mum. Mum has been through the ups and downs of motherhood and all that brings through raising 6 children in the 50’s and 60’s, however, if there is one thing I know for sure, is her fierce love for all of her children, even if she gets all our names mixed up!! – Pam

Now it’s your turn to get involved! Use the hashtag #Lovemymum and share your favourite memories between yourself and your mum for the chance to win a scarf.
