The Port Elliot Festival of Ideas
Now this is our type of festival. The Port Eliot Festival in St Germans, Cornwall started life nine years ago as a literary festival and over the years has grown and developed into a wonderful celebration of all kinds of creativity, taking place in the stately home and grounds of Port Eliot House.
We love that their site has a quote from Jarvis Cocker calling it, “A festival of ideas.” Such a nice description. The festival now includes a range of music, DJ’s, art and fashion installations, cabaret, outdoor cinema, drama, a flower show and of course, literature, it is a real mix of inspiring stuff.
We are particularly excited by the fashion element of this festival – The Wardrobe Department celebrates all things fashion and features workshops and talks from some of the best in the industry, this year’s line up includes designer Mary Katrantzou, milliner Stephen Jones, designer Luella Bartley, photogrpaher David Sims and Biba legend Barbara Hulanicki.
Here’s a lovely film about The Wardrobe Department:
On from the 19th – 22nd July, if you’re near Cornwall, this is definitely not one to miss!
