We went to the Olympics!
We managed to blag some tickets this weekend so off we headed to the Olympic Park early on Saturday morning with excitement! We were greeted by many many Olympic staff, all poised high on lifeguard styles chairs shouting through their loudspeakers about the sun, Team GB and pretty much anything to keep spirits high. The Park itself is pretty special, kind of like being at a festival but also being in a theme park. We loved the Meadham Kirchoff inspired coloured floor and the pink theme that runs pretty much all the way through the park – bit like our Yumi pink we think! We clocked some very enthusiastic attendees…

Oh Hello September Issue!
So, all of you know the infamous ‘The September Issue‘ film chronicling the making of American Vogue magazine’s biggest yearly fashion issue (if you don’t remember then either you had your head stuck in the sand a few years ago, or you were maybe too young!). Well, look what landed in our mail boxes today! Always the biggest showcase of luxury brands new season advertising campaigns, we’ve spent our whole lunch break pouring over the glossy pages and we are totally in love with this Mulberry ad – the hair, the coat, the yeti in the background? Pure genius. We’re also loving a sneak peek at the hottest trends for…

Pop Up London, Let’s Enjoy This Great City!
London is definitely alive this summer with the Olympics taking place in various locations around the city! There is just so much to do – don’t know where to start? We had an ask around at Yumi HQ and here’s our top 5 things we want to do and see: Camden Beach Oh we do like to be beside the seaside, however being in London, beaches aren’t easy to find. BUT thanks to the creative team at the Roundhouse theatre in Camden, NW1 has now got its own beach over the summer, complete with parasols, windbreakers, ice-cream van and plenty of games to play. So get your family together, or the girls…

It’s Finally Here!
Even though it has been the most hyped event we can remember, we have to say, we are excited about the upcoming Olympics! After years of preparations since London won the Games in 2005, the Olympics is finally coming, officially starting tomorrow with the opening ceremony, which includes the entrance of the final torchbearer (we’re hoping for David Beckham!) who will light the great Olympic cauldron. The torch has been carried by 8,000 torchbearers across the country including Billy Mitchell in a live segment of Eastenders (brilliant!) and actor/comedian David Walliams – seen above. As well as this, there is of course, a spectacular performance starring a cast of 15,…

The Port Elliot Festival of Ideas
Now this is our type of festival. The Port Eliot Festival in St Germans, Cornwall started life nine years ago as a literary festival and over the years has grown and developed into a wonderful celebration of all kinds of creativity, taking place in the stately home and grounds of Port Eliot House. We love that their site has a quote from Jarvis Cocker calling it, “A festival of ideas.” Such a nice description. The festival now includes a range of music, DJ’s, art and fashion installations, cabaret, outdoor cinema, drama, a flower show and of course, literature, it is a real mix of inspiring stuff. We are particularly excited by the…

We speak to our model comp winner Megan McMinn
We launched our Yumi and Sapphires model comp way back when in May and after trawling the UK and spotting some super talent, we just couldn’t get the lovely Megan McMinn out of our minds, who we spotted on the first leg of the search in St Ives. Fast forward to last week when we met with Sapphires and finally agreed that Megan was the one that we want(ed!) … watch this space for behind the scenes info and gossip on our shoot with Megan and keep switched on to ours and Sapphires’ social media to follow Megans journey. For now, we caught up with Megan to find out a little…

We Can’t Wait For…..The Dark Knight Rises
We wouldn’t generally call ourselves superhero fans but we make an exception for the most recent Batman trilogy, directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale as Batman. The Dark Knight Rises finishes the trilogy and is out this Friday. It features Anne Hathaway as the iconic Catwoman (we’re very intrigued to see how she compares to the great Michelle Pfeiffer) and the delicious Tom Hardy as baddie Bane. The film has already received overwhelmingly positive early reviews by film critics and has even received a standing ovation at a preview screening. Revered movie mag, The Hollywood Reporter even says, “Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy makes everything in the rival Marvel universe look…
